Spoon Medallion

This Spoon Art Medallion happens to be one of my absolute favorite projects,  I think its because It was so inexpensive and it make a grand statement. You can make it as large as you want or as small as you want.

I Couldn't remember where I saw the idea from when I first posted this project, But after searching high and low I finally found the source. She used her spoons to make a mirror and here's the link so you can go check her out as well.

The tutorial on how I made mines can be found here on my blog under the original post listed below

Monday Chit Chatter

Happy Monday guys, It’s the start of a brand new week. As some of us head back to work, or work at home, (It’s all a job) we can sometimes feel like our work is never done. Case in point I am compiling a list of projects that I seriously need to tackle.

I plan on working diligently at getting them completed one after the other. I must admitt, I do have a serious problem though, with being able to stay focused and work on one thing at a time. My mind takes over and I get bombarded with ideas and feel like I have to begin the next project before completing the one I am working on. Thus creating a lot of little unfinished projects.

So with that being said I am also working extra hard on practicing "ONE AT A TIME" I have been this way  ever since I was a child (just all over the place) I’m sure there’s a name for people like me! And believe me it will be a work in progress for sure.

With all the being said. I feel like your home should be a peaceful place that you absolutely love and enjoy, I also feel that it should be a reflection of you and your family. I have been in my home for well over ten years now, 13 going on 14 to be exact. I have decorated and painted the walls many different colors over the years. And it wasn’t so much that I just wanted a change, It was more so because I was so undecided about what I liked or didn’t like. And it just Never Ever felt right.

There was never a lot of furniture or accessories in any of  the rooms, so it looked sparse and cold, not the warm feeling I was looking for.
Since my recent room redo's i.e.; my daughters room, the guest bedroom, the kitchen ect... I have come full circle so to speak I like the way it makes me feel when I walk into the space, I love the way it looks, whereas before I didn’t have that feeling. She's giving me peace and warmth, and I’m starting to feel like my house is a home now. And I'm falling in love with her all over again.

It feels really comforting knowing that it doesn’t take a whole bunch of money to decorate or redo a room, all you really need is an imagination, time, a little handy side won’t hurt, and some really good thrift stores in your area. And that’s about it. And you can make some "Magic" happen.

So as I conquer each room one by one to make it reflect my family and I and our since of style, I hope that you will continue to follow me on this journey. This blog situation has truly given me an outlet and platform to display all the things I love and work on. Thanks so much for listening guys and being a part of this blog.

Sharon

Sneak Peak Of The Office

Hey guys! well as our weekends come to an end I hope you all had a nice one. I was busy working in the new office, trying to get things as close to complete as possible, as my husband and I are eager to get in there and put our things away and hopefully get a little more organized.

We have been using the kitchen table, Our bed, the living room couch just where ever we can open our laptop and set up shop, that's what our office consisted of, papers all over the place. The time has finally come that we can enjoy a space specific to our work needs. Yay!

As I was busy as a bee working in the the new office, I couldn't help but notice the laundry room is in need of some serious tender loving care. Its right beside the office, In fact you have to look right in there while working in the office.

I figured since the office is a beach theme and Its all relaxing yet stimulating  at the same time. The laundry rooms needs to look up to par since its right there. Guess what?  yep you guessed right. That's the next big project on the agenda my laundry room make over. And perhaps I might start enjoying laundry duty. Nah! just kidding(about enjoying laundry duty).

Here's a sneak peak of the some of the Office so far. The actual reveal will probably be Saturday so stay tuned.

That's all I can show you for now.....see you at the reveal have a great week everyone

Before and After Chair " Up-do "

This Chair was one of the Free chairs I grabbed from Craigslist, They remind me of chairs that Mr. and Mrs. Claus would sit in at the North Pole, around a Hugh fireplace planning the route to distribute toys to all the little children .(at least that's what I imagine) lol
anyway enjoy the before and After.

Oh! you know in my moment of excitement and with my many projects going on all at once, I get ahead of myself, This chair by the way isn't even finished. But its finished enough for me to show you. And for you to get the idea. I will completely finish it and the other one I showed you in my daughters Princess Room today or tomorrow.

This is what the chair used to  look like:

This is what she looks like now

Disclaimer: you might notice that my curvy area at the top of the chair is Slightly Off Centered Right? (I never claimed to be a chair upholster connoisseur) lol mistakes happen. But I do love this beauty anyway......

You might also notice there isn't a back shot of the chair. That's because I haven't added the rest of the piping yet. (That's the part that's not complete) But as soon as shes finished I will show you again.

With this chair I decided since I am going to use it as my office chair along with my new revamped desk that the cording as it came was very natural looking, so I decided not to cover it with fabric I simply applied it straight to the chair. This chair screams "Beach" to me thus the light and airy fabric choice.

I purchased a yard and a half of fabric and only used a yard, I will be making a NO SEW PILLOW with the remaining fabric. I purchased it at Hancock's Fabrics  on sale for 50% off so I ended up paying less then $20.00 for it, I already had the piping from the Yellow and Grey Chair Redo. And the Chair itself was Free.

I spray painted her a metallic silver after priming her of course, ( the same paint from my dresser hardware) this product here. The top looks gold but its really silver

I began by carefully removing all the fabric, trying not to rip anything because I always use the old clothes as a template for the new clothes.

So much for not ripping the old clothes right? Hey sometimes it happens

And there in a pile lay the " OLD TORN AND TATTERED CLOTHES "

Shes ready to be dressed and fantsy'ied up ( I know that word isn't in the dictionary) :)

And since I was Redoing two chairs that were the same design, I completed the rocker first for my daughters room so I used the same template later to cut the fabric for this chair. But I will show you how the pattern looked with the other fabric

This is the cushion part of the seat, it was stuffed with straw and cotton( hummm!) HADNT SEEN THAT BEFORE IN A CHAIR

The end.....and that's the story folks of an old chair " UP-DO"

Have a good Weekend Guys!!!!!

DIY screw up!!!! Gone Wrong...Back to Right

Happy Friday my beautiful readers! Its the weekend YALL!!!! I hope everyone had a good week.

Now lets talk about my situation here for a second and how my lil stinking project idea has went south.  If you know anything about DIY projects then you already know that sometimes things (well) don't always turn out as planned.
You might remember me showing you a few of the items I lucked up and got for free on craigslist. One item in particular was a desk. I figured the desk would be awesome for the hubby, and since the home office was the next big redo, the desk would be "PERFECT".wrongggggg! first off he is too "BIG" for the desk. YES! to big. He's 6'5 in height and this is what the desk looked like when I broght it home.

We tested it out and he really looked like he was sitting at a child's desk ( it was kind of funny) not only could he not fit in the little knee space but he wasn't feeling the top part of the desk either. He said he felt like he was sitting at a piano instead of a desk.

I guess you could say I still had hope of making it work so I told him. Wait honey I can fix that problem!. And so I began some minor reconstruction( i guess in my mind I thought if I removed the part he didn't like somehow (being to big for the desk would change). So I removed the top part.

Of course that wasn't the case. The desk just wasn't going to work!(sad face) then it hit me later that day. Heyyyyy........ I will keep the desk for myself and just go find him another one. Problem solved.
My hubby and I will be sharing the home office space once its complete so I immediately began thinking of a design idea that would work for the both of us (not to girly) and definitely (not to masculine)
So while I knew I would start searching craigslist for him a desk and thrifting around town, I began working on my NEW DESK! this is where things went terribly wrong.

I have a serious problem of mixing left over paints creating all sorts of colors and such. I mixed up a batch of paint and ended up with a color I fell head over hills for(actually two colors. I thought it was just beautiful.  And perfect for my new desk.

I began painting and boy! I was getting excited because it was really pretty. I applied the first coat and while it was drying I began working on the free book case I got from craigslist, its going in our office also.

Talk about a bad damn day! the color I used for the book shelf was also mixed paints I created. This is what the book shelf looked like in its original "Free State".

After mixing paint like a mad scientist I ended up with this. Please excuse the picture quality and the colors are washed out  and not accurate  the shelf was actually a dark blue and the desk was kind of coral

I was going to match the drawers with the shelf

The Desk

When it was time to apply the second coat and possibly a third coat there was no more paint....I mean my lil cans were empty. (Now what ....the what) am i going to do? It wasn't like I could just run to Lowe's and get more....I made those colors. Uggggggh! talk about frustrated. It just wasn't going to work.

Soooooo. to relieve some of my frustration I decided to take a break from my furniture mishaps and began messing in the laundry room and messing under the stairs and WHALAAAAA.... I found a whole can of paint Brand new. ( I had to think for a second why I even had it and what I was going to use it for) I had purchased it a while back because It was the color I was originally going to paint the guest room with before I changed my mind and went with the blue and black.

Great color for the New Office....... Yes this would work.  So I began painting the new office and here's what it looks like so far. Keep in mind there are no windows in this room. Its located in the far back corner of  the basement. So I was really glad it was a light color other wise I wouldn't have used it back there.

Its like a minty greenish blue color (OK all made up words I know) but you get the idea. It makes me think of the BEACH!!!!! and thus the theme for the office was born.....A Beach Theme Office.

This is the area where my husbands stuff will go.
This is the entrance area and where my stuff will go
This area will definitely take some creativity because I'm not looking at that big ugly trane system while I'm in there ( NO WAY)

another angle of my lil area
OK! So Beach Theme office it is. And the hubby said I trust you! I know you will make it not look so cheesy and over the top.....lol

Alright so my sweet Granny called me and asked where could she find her some white dishes at?  and she mentioned her price limit was $ 1.00 a plate. I mentioned Good Will and that lead to us taking a trip to a few Good Will stores. Granny was on the hunt for white dishes and I was on the hunt for a new desk for hubby. I had already envisioned exactly what the desk needed to look like.

I also had said if I couldn't find one I would just build him one. After traveling to a Good Will store #1  and the salvation army thrift store we ended up at yet another Good Will store #2. (by the way Granny found her dishes at Good will store #1)  and I found this at Good Will store #2

BAMMM!!!!!!

Just Right for the Hubby. Size was perfect, He could fit under it and the top was nice in size for all his junk. I mean stuff.
Exactly what I envisioned  and only  $15.00

I  began priming my desk and the book shelf all over again  because the colors had to go.

I have already painted them The " NEW COLORS "as well as the hubby's desk. I cant wait to show you our Beach Theme office once its complete.  Even though my original DIY Idea went South.

I have since changed that into something great for he and I ......stay tuned for the reveal  guys.

I plan on taking another trip this weekend to Ikea to snag some office stuff to spruce things up in this office joint. (anything to go shopping) right? :)   Have a Great weekend guys !

Sharon
